#What is a Review QR Code and Why Does Your Business Need One?

A QR code is a small square digital barcode that anyone can scan using their smartphone camera. When your customers point their camera at the code, a notification immediately appears on their phone screen. Tapping that link opens your custom review collection page in seconds, without requiring them to download any app, type a long web address, or search for your business manually.

In a busy store, restaurant, clinic, or salon, asking customers for reviews verbally can feel awkward, and sending follow-up text messages or emails often gets ignored. Physical review stands with QR codes catch your customers at the exact moment they are happiest with your service: at the checkout counter, dining table, or waiting area.

How Review Shielding Protects You

When customers scan your Karo Simple QR code, happy customers (rating 4 or 5 stars) are seamlessly guided to post their review publicly on Google. If someone experienced an issue (1 to 3 stars), they are directed to a private feedback form so you can resolve the issue privately before a negative public review is posted.

#Understanding Your QR Dashboard Summary Bar

When you navigate to the QR Codes page in your Karo Simple dashboard, the top banner provides an instant real-time snapshot of how all your review stands are performing across your business:

  • Total Scans: The cumulative number of times all your QR codes have been scanned by customers across all locations and counters.
  • Conversions: The number of people who scanned your QR code and went on to complete and submit a customer review.
  • Conversion Rate: The percentage of scanners who submitted a review. For example, if 100 people scan your code and 42 leave a review, your conversion rate is 42%. A rate above 30% is considered world-class for physical retail.
  • Plan Quota (Codes Used): Displays how many active QR codes you currently have created out of your total plan allowance.
Note for Free Plan Users

On the Free plan, scan counts and conversion analytics appear with a lock badge. To view detailed scan metrics, device history, and conversion numbers, upgrade to any paid business plan.

#Step-by-Step: Creating Your First QR Code in Under 2 Minutes

Setting up a new QR code is quick and simple. You only need to do this once for each counter, table, or employee you want to collect reviews for.

1

Click the "Create QR Code" Button

In your Karo Simple dashboard, open the "QR Codes" tab from the main sidebar. Look for the bright "Create QR Code" button at the top-right corner of the page and click it.

2

Give Your QR Code an Internal Name

Type a friendly descriptive name into the "Name" field. This name is strictly for your internal reference: your customers will never see it. Examples of great names: • "Front Checkout Counter 1" • "Patio Table 5" • "Billing Receipt Standee" • "Vikram - Senior Stylist"

3

Select Your QR Code Type (Static vs Dynamic)

Choose between Static and Dynamic. We strongly recommend Dynamic for almost every business: • Dynamic (Recommended): The web link behind the QR code is managed in the cloud. You can change the destination URL, switch Google Review links, or reassign employees later without re-printing anything. • Static: The link is permanently burned into the physical code. If you ever need to change the destination URL in the future, you will have to print new physical stands.

4

Assign an Employee (Optional)

If this QR code belongs to a specific staff member (like a waiter, technician, or customer service representative), select their name from the employee dropdown list. This tracks which team member generated the scan. If this code is for a shared counter or table, simply leave this field blank.

5

Save and Generate

Click "Create" or "Save". Your brand new QR code card will appear instantly in your dashboard, ready to be customized, downloaded, or printed.

Pro-Tip: Where to Place Your First QR Code

The single highest-converting location for any physical business is the payment touchpoint. Place your first standee directly next to your credit card terminal or payment scanner, where customers naturally pause for 30–60 seconds while paying.
